Message from the Chairman of the Organization Committee

Twenty five years after the creation of JICABLE, the 7th International Conference on Power Insulated Cables “JICABLE’07” was held in Versailles from 24 to 28 June 2007. More than 600 delegates coming from 50 different countries attended. 177 reports from 28 countries were presented. The success of the conference reflects the continued level of activity of the Cable sector at World level and the increasing demand for underground Cables. The accelerated pace of development in the field of Insulated Power Cables was demonstrated by the number of papers presented and by the high quality of the innovative advances depicted. The International Scientific and Technical Committee, under the chairmanship of Kenneth BARBER, from Australia, underlined the excellent quality of the programme, considered amongst the best ever seen at JICABLE. We appreciated the hard work done by these Committee volunteers, who contributed significantly to the preparation of this excellent and very well attended Meeting. |
Another aspect which we want to stress is the quality of the International Cable Exhibition organized jointly with the Conference, which provided numerous discussion opportunities between Corporations and Institutions. Side activities were also organized: 4 tutorials, 4 technical visits, 15 audiovisual technical displays. An attractive social activities programme was an appreciated addition to this week for the delegates and the accompanying persons. This included in particular the “JICABLE Soirée” held in the « Gustave Eiffel » room on the first floor of the Eiffel Tower !
The 7thInternational Conference on Insulated Power Cables JICABLE’07 was really an outstanding event that will be long remembered by those who attended. On behalf of the organizers, we warmly thank the patronage and sponsoring organizations for their contribution to the success of JICABLE’07. We also wish to thank the members of the JICABLE’07 Organization Committee, and particularly the Secretary, Jean-Michel LEQUEUX. Finally, I would like to thank all the delegates for their contributions and active participation.
