Objectives
Undergrounding of low and medium voltage electric power distribution networks, is possible today thanks to technology developed which have advantages in terms of environment, energy efficiency and reliability. Nevertheless, the undergrounding development presents a cost that must be compatible with the requirements of the price of electricity delivered to consumers.
The objective of Cabos'11 will take stock of the state of the art, new achievements and future prospects of undergrounding distribution networks.
The following topics will be covered:
- The objectives of the utility:
- Continuity of service (no interruption of service)),
- The holding of voltage (no voltage fluctuation)
- The quality of the voltage wave
(frequency, pure sine wave, phase balance, voltage dips, ...) - Taking into account environmental constraints,
- Maintaining a reasonable cost of electricity delivered to consumers.
- Technologies :
- LV and MV technologies: conductors and insulated cables, accessories, ...,
- Installation techniques,
- Costs,
- Operating experience of overhead and underground networks:
- Presentation of the networks,
- Costs and reliability of LV and MV links in operation,
- Expansion and renewal of underground networks : strategy.
- New projects
- Challenges:
- Technical: Are there specific technical difficulties with the installation and the operation of underground electric power distribution systems
- Economical: Funding problem, Balance sheet Investment / Operating Earnings (reliability, losses, maintenance...).
Who will be taking part in Cabos'13 ?
As for the 2 earlier Cabos conferences held in 2009 and 2011, Cabos'13 will prove very useful to the following segments of the cable industry : researchers, engineers, decision-makers, manufacturers, installers and users.
