PRESENTATION

Three technical visits are proposed : V1, V2 and V3 :

V1 : One HV supply of Paris by electric power cables
V2 : EDF testing & research facilities : Les Renardières
V3 : Cables for avionics

For each visit registrations will be considered in order of arrival (please state a second preferance on your registration form).

V1 : An HV supply of Paris by electric power cables

The visit of an HV substation of RTE, the French Transmission Network Operator, is proposed. The electrical scheme of the substation, its different components and its integration from a safety, environmental and neighbourhood point of view will be explained. Paris’ power supply will be presented during the visit.

V2 : EDF Testing and Research facilities : Les Renardières

Research projects about French underground power links will be presented :

MV cables and accessories : new specification of the components (stakes, process, results and deployment).
HV and EHV extruded cables : context and EDF position, evolution to large conductors and aluminium foil metallic screens.
Developments in laying methods, control of the cable thermal environment, recycling of trench excavated waste.

A visit of testing facilities will complete the presentation.

V3 : Cables for Avionics

Aircraft is calling for considerable quantities of cables that could reach several hundreds of kms for the existing jumbo aircraft. The visit of an aircraft assembly shop will enable delegates to improve their knowledge of the specific constraints of cables, implemented technologies, conditions of installation and development prospects.
